#11 Serene Affair $5.50 with TopSport
Generally don’t like to get involved in races with first starters but I’m willing to make an exception for. Serene Affair resumes here and though a 9 start maiden, I think there has been plenty of merit in her last 2 starts. Last start over 1000m at Eagle Farm was caught wide with no cover for the duration of the race and stuck on well to finish 4th, beaten 2.75L. That race looks a pretty good form reference for today. Prior start was over 1200m also at Eagle Farm. From barrier 5 was caught wide early and went forward to lead but went a bit too hard ending up leading by 6 or 7 round the bend. Fitness told late and was swallowed up but stuck on really well to be beaten 1L into 2nd. Lindsay Gough runners tend to go very well at Ipswich and though drawn out wide has shown has enough gate speed to go forward. Michael Murphy a bit of a worry but rides much better for this stable than he does generally. Certainly no moral here but looks to find a bit of an easier race than she has in the past.
