Tuesday Dec 20th: LA Rams (4-9) @ Green Bay Packers (5-8)

The Green Bay Packers need to win their last four games and have other results go their way to be able to land a Wildcard playoff spot. They were helped by the 49ers beating the Seahawks on Thursday night and have plenty of motivation to win this one.

The Packers were down 16-3 last time out against the Bears but outscored them 25-3 the rest of the way to get the win.

Green Bay’s rookie wide receiver Christian Watson has scored eight touchdowns in the past four games and the Packers have scored 28 or more points in three of those. The only other first-season wideout with eight TDs over a four-game span was Hall of Famer Randy Moss. The Packers believe they have a dynamic duo in Watson and fellow rookie Romeo Doubs who returns from injury.

The Packers have played a difficult schedule this season but in their only three games against teams with a losing record they have won by 17, 9 and 6 points.

Meanwhile the Rams have been one of this season’s most disappointing teams and look just a shell of the Super Bowl winners earlier this year.

They did score a miraculous come-from-behind win last week thanks to an extraordinary performance from QB Baker Mayfield. Somehow he was able to jump off a plane and lead his new team to a fourth-quarter comeback despite not knowing most of the plays. He’d endured a very disappointing season prior to that effort so it will be interesting to see whether Mayfield can repeat those heroics here, especially since the Rams are the worst team in the NFL for protecting their QB.

The Rams offense is decimated by injuries to their starting QB, offensive line and best two wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson. They have scored more than 17 points just twice in their last seven games. That’s not a great recipe for success when their defence has allowed at least 26 points in four of their last five. It’s hard to see the Rams scoring more than 17 points and that’s unlikely to be enough against a Green Bay team who have their offence clicking right now. The Packers are a healthier and rested team that will be desperate for a home win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
