Caulfield Quaddie Preview
After a winning effort last weekend – to the tune of $3,600 – Trev is back with his Caulfield Quaddie tips for this Saturday’s meet. He’s gone skinny early and fat late in the hope of a nice dividend.
Race 6 – Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1200m)
#1 Sunset Watch (Team Hawkes / James Winks)
Brilliant winner at this track last start and given a jump-out in between to be kept at the mark. The horse to beat.
#2 Dalswinton (Hayes & Dabernig / Craig Williams)
Had no luck down the straight on debut. Can improve here and gets Williams on.
#5 Sikorsky (Hayes & Dabernig / Damien Oliver)
Makes debut here, has jumped out well. Hard to get a line on, but will include.
#6 Let Me Sleep On It (Waterhouse & Bott / Stephen Baster)
Had three runs back this prep, should be nearing peak fitness, looks ready for 1200m.
Race 7 – Honan Insurance Group Handicap (1100m)
#2 Leather’N’Lace (Darren Weir / Fred Kersley)
Given a break since first-up run when went well. Goes well fresh, will be hitting the line hard.
#3 Twitchy Frank (Darren Weir / Brad Rawiller)
Ran well first-up in Adelaide. Comes back slightly in distance, but gets senior rider on.
#6 Sanadaat (Hayes & Dabernig / Damien Oliver)
Unbeaten first-up and again impressive first-up in August. Trialled nicely and gets Oliver on.
#7 Island Daze (Michael Kent / Luke Nolen)
Unbeaten filly who’s improved with each run. Can maintain here.
#17 Faith In Hand (Chris Waller / Stephen Baster)
Impressive winner first-up, rated well enough to be competitive here.
Race 8 – Next Payments Handicap (1400m)
#1 Runson (Leon & Troy Corstens / Liam Riordan)
Exposive winner last start at this track and distance running an exceptional time. Had a month off and I doubt will return that figure, but has still claims if returning normal figure.
#2 Leodoro (Michael Kent / Ethan Brown)
Caught wide at Bendigo in fast-run race second-up from break. Should be fitter here now.
#7 Silvera (Tony McEvoy / Lachlan King)
Resumes, has won twice before fresh. Looks ideally suited first-up at 1400m.
#11 Arkham Knight (John Macmillan / Damien Oliver)
Had no luck last start in Adelaide over shorter trip, can improve here with Oliver going on.
#12 Notio (Team Hawkes / James Winks)
Racing consistently, has had a month off. Comes back in distance which shouldn’t be a concern.
#14 Spanner Head (Archie Alexander / Tahlia Hope)
Impressive winner first-up last prep, can run well fresh here.
#16 Flying Murty (Greg Eurell / Nikita Beriman)
Held up in straight before getting clear and going strongly to the line at this trip last start. Looks a progressive horse.
Race 9 – Victorian Transport Association Handicap (2000m)
#4 Abdon (Chris Waller / Damien Oliver)
Honest effort at first Australian start over a shorter trip. Looks better suited out to 2000m here. Can improve.
#10 Top Of The Range (Michael Moroney / Patrick Moloney)
No luck two starts back, then an honest run last start over a slightly shorter trip. Steps out to 2000m which he looks to be ready for now. Sticky gate, but can roll forward.
#11 He Ekscels (Richard Laming / Liam Riordan)
Racing consistently this prep, ran nicely over 2000m last start. Gets in well with claim.
#13 Noumea (James Cummings / Jake Noonan)
Steps to 2000m here third-up, which he looks ready for. Hit the line nicely last start over shorter trip.
#18 No Commitment (Colin Little / Ben Thompson)
Racing consistently, winning past two. Month off maybe a slight concern, but still looks well graded here.
