#1 Dalavin [$2.90] gets a nice draw from the inside barrier off an above-average tempo. The rider fell last start when the horse was awkward out of the gate. Before that he had plenty of country wins on the board. I have him needing a rating of 88 to win this, and his last four runs have been between 87.1 and 88.0. He’s 3/4 over the 1000 metres. This is a step up from country grade but he should be able to handle it.
Jockey Ellen Hennessy is only 4/64 over the last 60 days, but has barely get any opportunities on horses in the market. When she does she’s been fine and is 2/3 (last 60 days) on horses starting less than $4 (32/89 @ +5.74% PoT since 2019 on same category of horses).
Others in the market – #5 Mabel [$3.90], #4 Don Luigi [$4.90] – are the obvious dangers, but both are first-up.

#1 Dalavin

On our latest podcast we have something very different. Combet is – to anybody’s knowledge – the first of it’s kind in the betting world. It’s an attempt to create a completely automated fixed-odds bookmaker. The punters set the odds (via auction), and then bet into the book with fluctuations controlled by algorithm.
The founder of Combet, Jake Howard, joins us to talk about it.
