Although the defending champion, where history tends to lean against previous Major winners repeating, Rahm ticks just about every box when it comes to locating this week’s winner at Brookline. The Spaniard ranks 1st for Ball Striking (Total Driving combined with Greens-In-Regulation), plus Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee, meaning a half decent showing with the putter will surely put him right in the thick of things come the weekend. Rahm is as complete a golfer as any on the circuit and, given his pedigree, it seems a little odd to see him 4th in the betting behind McIlroy, Thomas & Scheffler. His 10th place last time out at The Memorial was a solid enough effort, just lacking a killer edge on and around the greens, and so if he can have his short game on-point, Rahm is a huge runner for me this week.
