Read on for NRL Round 21 early mail and value betting leans for each game…
NRL Round 21: Roosters v Broncos, Thursday night
Early prediction: Roosters
The value: Roosters -4.5 at TopSport
- Roosters struggled against an understrength Manly last weekend and although they have a few guns, their fluency is off in 2022.
- Broncos will sorely miss Carrigan, who is one of their best players and a workhorse in the middle.
- The Broncos seem to be suffering a post-Origin slump in form, so the Roosters should just cover the line.
NRL Round 21: Storm v Titans, Friday night
Early prediction: Storm
The value: Titans +16.5 at TopSport
- Storm suffered another blow with Meaney out, meaning Wishart will likely line up at 1. Their backline stocks get a boost with Nofouluma lining up on the wing.
- Titans were horrible against the Raiders last week, with their defensive commitment really weak.
- With nothing to lose and with a few good team changes, the Titans could trouble the Storm if they throw the ball around.
Manly v Eels, Friday night
Early prediction: Close!
The value: Scores level at 80 minutes at TopSport
- Manly welcome back a ton of talent, but who knows what is going on inside the playing group and how the team will gel.
- The Eels are without Moses, which introduces uncertainty into how they’ll turn up.
- At home a desperate Manly should be good enough, but it looks close and I like the speculative draw play.
NRL Round 21: Souths v Warriors, Saturday afternoon
Early prediction: Souths
The value: Souths -18 at TopSport
- Souths blew their chances against the Sharks last weekend, with both Walker and Mitchell failing to land the killer blow.
- Souths look far stronger across the park despite missing a few troops.
- At the Sunshine Coast, the Warriors do not have to contend with a strong home ground advantage, but Souths should still blow them off the park.
Raiders v Panthers, Saturday afternoon
Early prediction: Panthers
The value: Panthers -3.5 at TopSport
- The Raiders have won a few in a row, but neither performance has been really convincing. The Warriors had a strong lead early and the Titans still managed to score 24.
- The Raiders’ form has been exaggerated by weak opposition.
- Panthers should still be strong enough without Cleary and Luai
Sharks v Dragons, Saturday night
Early prediction: Sharks
The value: Total points under 41.5 at TopSport
- Sharks are now without Kennedy, Finucane and a few others, and the desperate Dragons will rate their chances.
- The issue with the Dragons is team selection, with Mbye at fullback making no sense when Sloan is there and can fill in.
- Sharks should be too good, but if some late changes are made to the Dragons line up, do not write off an upset.
NRL Round 21: Bulldogs v Cowboys, Sunday afternoon
Early prediction: Cowboys
The value: Cowboys -10.5 at TopSport
- The Doggies have been flying, but they come up against a Cowboys team that reasserted themselves as a Premiership heavyweight last weekend.
- Although the Doggies free flowing footy is hard to contain, the Cowboys are a very well rounded team.
- With this game being played in Bundaberg, the Cowboys should have too much class and fitness to win this one.
Tigers v Knights, Sunday afternoon
Early prediction: Wests
The value: Wests -6 at TopSport
- Although O’Brien is pleading to be given another crack next year, he really does look like he is holding by his fingernails
- The Knights’ attack last weekend was horrible, and yet O’Brien has named the same spine this weekend.
- Wests missing Hastings will hurt, but this late season form resurgence has been impressive.
