- The Cowboys are going to have to find a way to shut down the Eels offloading game… it tore the Raiders apart last weekend, making 19 offloads (many of them high quality)
- When these teams last played in Round 8, the Cowboys gave the Eels their biggest thrashing of 2022. That game was played up in Darwin in hot conditions like what will be experienced this weekend.
- On my ratings, the Eels are slightly better but when you factor in the home ground advantage, the Cowboys deserve to be slight favourites. Tipping a very close one.

NRL Preliminary Finals: Panthers v Souths
Early prediction: Panthers, just
The value: Souths +8.5
- I would’ve given Souths a big chance of an upset, but with Havili missing due to injury and Burgess suspended, their bench looks far less dangerous.
- I think Souths have either Cartwright or Chee-Kam play centre, with Taas or Graham shifted to the wing. Kenner or Mansour would be poor replacements for Johnston and easily targeted by the high ball.
- The Panthers they look incredibly strong across the park, however the loss of Taylan May should not be underestimated – he’s been in amazing form all year.
