With Group 1 status and prizemoney of $1 million, the Thousand Guineas is one of the major three-year-old fillies races on the Australian calendar. It is run at Caulfield Racecourse on the Wednesday between Caulfield Guineas Day and Caulfield Cup Day.
Thousand Guineas 2022: Pro punter preview
Track The rail stays in the true position, the same as it was on Saturday. The roller will be out and really the track should come up quite well. There’s some rain forecast on Wednesday afternoon, so we’ll just have to watch for that.
Speed There’s actually not much natural speed here at all. North Star Lass will lead and Waltz On By will sit handy, She’s Licketysplit and Tajneed probably also roll forward and sit just off the speed.

3 She’s Licketysplit [$3.90] sat on the pace last start in the Edward Manifold and was strong through the line. She still looks to be still on the up and can go to a new level here. For mine she’s the horse to beat.
4 Boogie Dancer [$4.20] is racing well but all her best figures are on genuinely soft tracks. I’m prepared to risk her on a drier track.
5 North Star Lass [$4.80] looks the leader here. She’s coming back off wet tracks and can improve slightly. Gets an easy run on the map here too.
1 Russian Conquest [$8.00] hit the line solidly last start over 1400m. She looks well-suited stepping up to the mile here and can sit handier from a better draw.
The Barrier Draw is in for Wednesday’s @SchweppesAus Thousand Guineas. Who do you have on top in the Group 1 feature?

7 Madame Pommery [$8.00] is hard to get a line on. She was super two starts back at big odds in the Tea Rose, but her other runs have been rated down. She gets McDonald here, so she has some chance at the odds.
10 Tajneed [$11] has had two career runs. She put in a solid effort last start in the Edward Manifold and can hold her rating here.
6 Waltz On By [$17] has won her past two. She won narrowly last start at Sandown. Steps up in trip here which I think is a negative. I would prefer her at 1400m.
2 Revolutionary Miss [$21] goes up in trip here and draws out wide again, which both look negatives. She’s another I would prefer back at 1400m.
9 Jenny Jerome [$21] ran well last start at big odds, but she was able to make ground up the inside. She’s drawn out wide here, which will make it more difficult. Rough chance.
11 She’s Pretty Rich [$126] is outclassed here.
Betting strategy
Best bet She’s Licketysplit
I’ve got her on top and she looks a backable price at the moment. I’m happy to risk Boogie Dancer and like what we’ve seen from She’s Licketysplit.
