Read on for NRL Round 9 early mail and betting leans for each game…
NRL Round 9: Souths v Broncos, Thursday night
Early prediction: Souths comfortably
The value: Souths -12.5 at TopSport
- Souths were far from convincing last week in beating Manly, who were reduced to 12 players for most of the match.
- However, Souths’ spine started to look a lot sharper
- Broncos have two big outs in Haas and Capewell
Adam Reynolds been outstanding through recent weeks, has all but picked up & carried #Broncos home to last 2 wins & by far their best v Panthers.
Nice return home match up this wk v old club Souths. Probably in a mood of form to remind a few people how he’s playing? #NRL pic.twitter.com/gOiS526fXd

NRL Round 9: Raiders v Bulldogs, Friday night
Early prediction: Raiders
The value: Raiders H2H $1.88 at TopSport
- Stuart has turned to some of his veterans with Croker, CNK, Frawley and Elliott all returning
- The Raiders were a little unlucky to lose to the Warriors last weekend.
- The Raiders should be too good for the Bulldogs at home.
Panthers v Eels, Friday night
Early prediction: Panthers in a close one
The value: Eels +12.5 at TopSport
- These two teams often play out thrilling encounters, with the Eels very close to knocking off the Panthers last year’s finals
- Eels line-up is looking much better with Brown back at 6 and Opacic returning
- The Panthers are very hard to beat, but I think the line in this one is far too big.
NRL Round 9: Manly v Wests, Saturday afternoon
Early prediction: Manly comfortably
The value: Manly at -15.5 at TopSport
- The return of Tom Trbojevic, Haumole Olakau’atu and Josh Aloiai is massive for Manly
- The loss of Luciano Leilua and David Nofoaluma is big for Wests, on top of the continued absence of Laurie and Douiei.
- Manly showed a lot of guts despite their loss last weekend, and this could get ugly for Wests.
Roosters v Titans, Saturday afternoon
Early prediction: Roosters comfortably
The value: Roosters -10 at TopSport
- Roosters had some real positives last weekend despite the tough loss
- Roosters’ outside backs look strong and their pack is choc-full of talent
- Roosters will click into gear against a Titans team missing Fifita
Cowboys v Knights, Saturday night
Early prediction: Cowboys comfortably
The value: Cowboys -14.5 at TopSport
- Cowboys continue to surprise. Last week’s big win over the Eels was their best of the season.
- Knights head into this one with a shocking injury toll and in horrible form.
- Knights welcome back some solid bench forwards, but they won’t get close to the Cowboys
Newcastle Knights halfback Jake Clifford will miss next round’s clash against the North Queensland Cowboys due to personal reasons.

NRL Round 9: Storm v Dragons, Sunday afternoon
Early prediction: Storm
The value: Dragons +22.5 at TopSport
- The Storm are absolutely cruising with a fit squad and piling on the points in every game
- With Jack Bird back into the starting team, the Dragons will try to turn this into a scrappy tight affair.
- With rain forecast, the line looks too big – the Dragons are no easybeats and can keep it closer
Sharks v Warriors, Sunday afternoon
Early prediction: Sharks comfortably
The value: Sharks -13.5 at TopSport
- Sharks will be keen to bounce back at home after being totally out-enthused by the Broncos last week
- Warriors’ outside backs could be exposed by the Sharks’ lethal backline.
- Warriors are really missing Curran and Tohu Harris at the moment.
