The PGA Tour is making port in Bermuda for the Bermuda Championship
A relative newcomer to the schedule, and one that is still to find its feet in terms of attracting A-List talent. That said, judging by previous editions, it will be a highly competitive week among the palm trees.

Bermuda Championship
Set in a foreign location, we’re at what one might consider an exotic, resort-style venue. The make-up of the field, as a result, is not the typical high standard we see regularly on the PGA Tour, with the line-up populated by any number of journeyman players, up-and-coming talent, and perennial bridesmaids. Yes, there are a few familiar names competing this week, but far fewer than normal. This could all be viewed as ingredients to produce a lower than normal standard of competition but, if anything, the desire to win among this week’s players is arguably stronger than many other tournaments.

Bermuda Championship: The Course
We do know a little about the course as it was the host venue for the Grand Slam of Golf (an annual four-man, two-round shootout between the previous year’s four Major champions) which ran from 2009 to 2014. It’s the Port Royal GC in Southampton, Bermuda. The venue is located right on the Atlantic coast and features several signature holes (notably the treacherous over-water par 3 16th). It was designed by Robert Trent Jones and will be set-up as a par 71, laid out over 6,828 yards. The performance data suggests scoring will be easy enough for those players who can handle the conditions.
72-Hole Record 260: Brendon Todd (2019)
18-Hole Record 62: Scottie Scheffler & Brendon Todd (2019)
Bermuda Championship: The Weather
Not great. A difficult week is expected with a daily precipitation forecast of 60%-90%-50%-50% over the course of the tournament, and possible thunderstorms. Temperatures will be in the mid-to-high 70s, with cloud cover for most of the week. Wind speeds will peak around 13-15mph through the course of the four days.

These are two each-way outright bets from the Golf Insider. Members receive all of his best bets for all markets – win and each-way, Top 10, Top 20, Round 1 Leader and 3-Ball groups. He covers every tournament on the PGA and European Tours.
Russell Knox $31 with TopSport
It’s hard to get excited by the market leaders this week, as the first dozen in the betting have only one previous PGA Tour winner among them (Seamus Power). Makes this tournament more of a lottery than usual! So my first bet is for a proven performer at this level, and someone who can certainly handle any adverse weather we get in Bermuda this week – Russell Knox. The exiled Scot’s current form isn’t stellar, but no player in this week’s field boasts a long list of high finishes – and Knox has three Top 20’s to his name from his three efforts to date at Port Royal, which should count for a lot this week. Anything around 33/1 or bigger is a decent price in my book.
Chesson Hadley $56 with TopSport
We’ve backed Hadley a couple of times this Summer, when the 35-year-old didn’t quite live up to expectations. And certainly this week’s lower grade field should see the North Carolina man to better effect. His latest start was a 37th place in Las Vegas, and on the pick of this form this year (5th Travelers, 10th 3M Open, 8th Wyndham) Hadley is no back-number in this field. He’s also a past winner on tour, in Puerto Rico, so again there’s some synergy there, and he’s another who I believe will be suited by this week’s set-up.
