The Longshots Report is your guide to high-priced golfers that can earn us profits in some of the less popular markets without winning the Tournament – First Round Leader, Top 10, 20, Make Cut etc

Last week in Mexico we started well with Harris English placing third in the First Round Leader market. A day later we had three of our four longshots make the cut. Unfortunately they dropped off over the weekend with English our best finisher (32nd), followed by Sigg (42nd) and then Lee (64th). Adam Long missed the cut.

This week, we’re off to Houston for the Cadence Bank Open, for a tournament that changes sponsors nearly every year. The tournament is at Memorial Park GC which is a Par 70 and plays on the difficult side. It’s a long way from the birdie fests we’ve had so far in this Fall Season. If it gets windy, as it can in Texas, then this course will be set up for the scramblers to keep their nerve around the greens.

Here’s our lovable list of Longshots (prices are for Win / Top 20) :bomb::bomb::bomb:

:flag-ca: Mackenzie Hughes $67 / $3.50
:flag-at: Sepp Straka $71 / $3.80
:us: Davis Thompson $75 / $4.30
:kr: Byeong-Hun An $151 / $5.50

:flag-ca: Mackenzie Hughes

Hughes plays well on tough US-Open like courses. He’s also played well here (7th and 29th in 2 starts) and had a win just a month ago at the Sanderson Farms. His game is in top shape and we’re getting a great price here.

$67

:flag-at: Sepp Straka

We’ve had Straka on our list recently, at the CJ Cup, where he didn’t really fire and then missed the Cut last week in Mexico. I don’t want to jump off just yet as we’re getting a better price and the thesis hasn’t really changed. Also, he was 5th here in 2021, is still #27 in the OWGR and over the odds this week.

$71

:us: Davis Thompson

We mentioned a few weeks ago that 2022/23 will be his first full season the main tour. So far, very solid, with finishes of 9-67-12. He’s had a month off since his 12th at The Shriners and should be ready and raring to go here.

$75

:kr: Byeong-Hun An

Spent most of last year on the Korn Ferry Tour after an underwhelming 2020. Prior to that had been a regular high-finisher on the main tour. Benny has shown a bit of form since returning for this current season, making 4 of 6 Cuts with a 4th at the Fortinet and 17th in Bermuda. He’s capable of going low any time he plays and is strong around the greens.

$151

Good luck this week!
