The value: Knights +6.5 at TopSport

• Although it was against a struggling Bulldogs team, the Knights played their best game in a while last weekend.
• With more troops retuning this weekend, the Knights will rate their chances of springing an upset at home
• The Broncos are playing terrific footy, but their defensive line speed could be pulled back by the referee in front of a packed Newcastle crowd

Wests vs Bulldogs, Friday night

Early prediction: Wests
The value: Wests H2H $1.60 at TopSport

• Wests have suffered more injuries and will now be without Luke Brooks for a period of time.
• But they still have a decent team and playing at Leichardt, have a good chance of giving their loyal fans something to cheer about.
• The loss of Barrett is playing out ugly and the Bulldogs may not be in the right headspace for this match.

Brent Naden was set to play for the Bulldogs against Wests Tigers on Friday night.

• After beating the Panthers the week earlier, the Eels’ defence was poor against the resurgent Roosters.
• Manly were even worse than the Eels
• It’s not clear if Tom T is fully fit, so hard to tip Manly

The value: Warriors +4.5 at TopSport

• The Dragons blew it against the Titans last week, after dominating the second half they failed to close the game out
• The Warriors are a chance of getting back Aitken, Egan and Harris-Tavita this week
• The Dragons should get the win at home, but I like the Warriors at the plus.

Cowboys vs Storm, Saturday afternoon

Early prediction: Cowboys, just
The value: Cowboys +5.5 at TopSport

• The Cowboys continue to win and stay injury free. A 5.5 point head start seems generous
• Last week’s big loss indicates the Storm’s previous form was being exaggerated by the poor performances of their opponents.
• Big Nelson ruled out for the Storm, and Hughes unlikely to return.

Roosters vs Panthers, Saturday night

Early prediction: Panthers
The value: Total points under 38.5 at TopSport

• The Roosters appear to be turning it around – beating the high-flying Eels will send a message to the rest of the competition.
• The Panthers’ line speed in defence and athletic ability with the ball in hand makes them very difficult to contain
• The Roosters’ defence is a worry, with Walker and Keary on the edges against the rampaging Panthers back rowers

The value: Titans +6.5 at TopSport

• The Titans showed a lot of guts to come back against the Dragons last weekend
• The Sharks get a boost with the addition of Fifita
• Sharks are without Kennedy and Ramien again, and away from home.
