Read on for NRL Round 24 early mail and value betting leans for each game…
NRL Round 24: Broncos vs Parramatta Eels, Thursday night
Early prediction: Eels
The value: Eels -3.5 at TopSport
- The Broncos are struggling without Carrigan, having conceded over 30 points per game over the past month. Ezra Mam is also being found out due to his lack of size.
- The Eels have looked so much better since Moses returned
- The Broncos still look decent on paper but guys like Haas, Stagg and even Reynolds all look a little out of sorts at the wrong time in the season.
NRL Round 24: Panthers vs Warriors, Friday night
Early prediction: Panthers
The value: Panthers -29.5 at TopSport
- The Panthers are huge favourites here and it is not hard to see why. They’re at home and only missing Cleary now.
- The Warriors’ form on the road has been horrendous and it’s hard to see them turning up here with nothing to play for
- The Panthers should win by about 30 points but it is difficult to know how ruthless they will be once the game is won
Storm vs Roosters, Friday night
Early prediction: Close!
The value: Roosters +4.5 at TopSport
- This is shaping as match of the season with both clubs naming ridiculously strong teams and having so much to play for.
- The Storm demolished the Broncos last week and it is clear they are now much stronger with Coates and Nofa on the wings.
- The Roosters welcome back key forwards and now have incredible power and depth across the park.
NRL Round 24: Raiders vs Manly, Saturday afternoon
Early prediction: Raiders
The value: Raiders -14.5 at TopSport
- If Manly were unable to lift last weekend to send off Foran at home, it’s hard to see them finding the energy this weekend.
- Although the Raiders form has been patchy, they continue to build as the end of season approaches
- Because points are at a premium, I like the chances of the Raiders putting Manly to the sword and putting in a full 80 here.
Sharks vs Bulldogs, Saturday afternoon
Early prediction: Sharks
The value: Sharks -22.5 at TopSport
- The Bulldogs’ purple patch of form has faded quickly and they will struggle to match the red-hot Sharks in the shire.
- With Talakai back out wide and the Sharks sending off one of their loyalist servants in Fifita, I think they’ll put on a clinic here.
- The Doggies need to find a new 7. Flanagan just does not deliver, and I am surprised Wakeham or Biondi-Odo have not been given a shot at 7 to prove their worth.
Souths vs Cowboys, Saturday night
Early prediction: Souths
The value: Souths -6.5 at TopSport
- Souths blew their chances last week with J Paulo’s howler of a performance costing them on multiple occasions.
- With Dearden missing for the Cowboys and the game in Sydney, I am confident Souths will not let slip this opportunity to lock in a finals spot
- Dearden has been so central to their form that I think Townsend will struggle without his partner in crime.
NRL Round 24: Wests vs Dragons, Sunday afternoon
Early prediction: Dragons, just
The value: Wests +9.5 at TopSport
- Wests are absolutely imploding of late, but are at least using this opportunity to blood some youngsters.
- The Dragons put away the Titans last weekend and with Hunt, Lomax, Bird et al, they have far more star power for this one.
- However Wests will like their chances of pulling off an upset here and I think it will only be decided by a couple of points.
Titans vs Knights, Sunday afternoon
Early prediction: Titans
The value: Titans -6.5 at TopSport
- The Titans were very poor again last weekend, with some of the Dragons second half tries embarrassing
- The Knights fought hard at home but still blew their chance to reward their long-suffering fans.
- It is hard to know what attitude these two strugglers with bring to the content, but on my ratings and with the home ground advantage, the Titans should cover.
